VIACOM is seeking a System Administrator to work out of our Times Square, 1515 Broadway office, for the Infrastructure Server and Storage Operations Group.  The Operations Group provides a suite of services including monitoring, incident management, problem management, configuration management, automation and device provisioning to internal server, database, and network engineering teams.  The goal is to free the internal engineering client groups from day to day operational matters so they are able to focus on bringing new client-facing products to market with the sure knowledge that their production infrastructure is built well, watched closely, and backed up regularly.  This position requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule and occasional travel.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Assist in the architecture, deployment, and operation of enterprise   configuration management tools, including puppet and SCCM
• Manage enterprise performance and availability monitoring
• Supervise relationships with internal service desk and offshore    incident response teams
• Manage enterprise backups
• Drive consolidation of service requests for Viacom online properties

Basic Qualifications:

• Solid Operating System Experience(RedHat/CentOS, Windows Server)
• HTTP servers including Apache/PHP, IIS
• Java application servers such as Jboss and Tomcat
• Database knowledge and experience: MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, Mongodb
• An understanding of high availability and redundant architectures   including HA Clustering, Server Load Balancing, etc.
• Enterprise configuration management tools such as puppet and SCCM
• Virtualization experience with VMWare, Xen
• Advanced scripting ability (bash/perl/php/ruby/python)
• A solid understanding of switching, routing and network   troubleshooting.
• Storage Technologies: Good working knowledge of SAN and NAS storage.   EMC, NetApp, McData, Brocade, Qlogic, etc.
• Cacti performance monitoring (configuration, writing plugin scripts)
• Nagios availability monitoring (architecture and plugin scripts)
• A good understanding of network and system security best practices.

EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years of UNIX/Linux systems and network management experience or   equivalent work experience in fast paced, large Web Hosting   environment
• On-call pager rotation experience required

EDUCATION:
• Computer Science Degree or equivalent
