Description

Kitchell, a well established general contractor, most recently voted “Top10 best workplaces” and ranked amongst the “Top 50 firms” in ENR, is seeking a MEP Superintendent with extensive MEP experience for a large scale healthcare project in Las Vegas, NV to schedule, coordinate and supervise MEP employees, subcontractors for the proper execution of all MEP project field related work. Ensure a quality built project during the construction phases and commissioning of assigned projects in order to most efficiently meet or improve contract requirements and completion dates, within the terms of the Contract Documents.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review construction documents, specifications & owners contract.
  • Review submitted MEP equipment and materials.
  • Review submitted shop drawings from MEP subcontractors & suppliers.
  • Review MEP expediting logs in conjunction with the overall project schedule.
  • Monitor material and equipment deliveries with subcontractors.
  • Assist in 3D CADD/4D Modeling coordination drawings for MEP, structural and architectural.
  • Confirm size and location of mechanical chases and housekeeping pads on structural shop drawings.
  • Verify overhead installation of the MEP systems to ensure proper clearances for accessibility and maintainability for end user.
  • Monitor and manage installation of all combination fire smoke dampers to ensure they function properly and motors are accessible and integrate properly with the Fire Alarm System and Smoke Evacuation Systems.
  • Prepare, review and monitor MEP and Special Systems related RFI's.
  • Review all quotes presented by subcontractors.
  • Verify installation of the Medical Gas, Steam, FM200, Rescue Air, Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler, Controls/Building Management System/Energy Management System, Emergency Power System and Life Safety Testing as required by code including review of daily paper work from subcontractor and third party inspectors.
  • Monitor the field installation of equipment and materials.
  • Verify testing and inspections are complete and documented during the course of construction
  • Coordinate special systems contractors with electrical and door subcontractors. Ensure installation and inspections occur.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing all required MEP shut downs and interruptions for existing systems with the hospital facilities group/managers.
  • Verify the protection of all MEP equipment as required.
  • Ensure a record set of drawings are kept that reflect all RFI's and modifications to the original work scope for the MEP systems.

Requirements:

Successful applicant must have extensive knowledge of all elements of commercial construction and full in-depth understanding of building requirements.  Position requires supervisory experience- 10 years with a related four (4) year degree in Construction Management or related field or 15 years experience without a degree.
