Internship Opportunities - Digital First Media, Thunderdome

Digital First Media is seeking interns to work at its Thunderdome office in New York City's Financial District. Thunderdome is a nationally focused digital newsroom of approximately 40 talented individuals who alongside DFM's network of more than 100 local newspapers, including notable brands such as The Denver Post, San Jose Mercury News, El Paso Times and New Haven Register.


Job duties will be editorial in nature, though writing opportunities are limited. Experience editing copy and using content management systems is preferred. Candidates with programming experience in newsrooms or similar workplaces will be given special consideration. We offer a fun and collaborative startup environment full of smart, motivated people who are serious about digital content.



What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating, editing and producing digital news content
  • Basic web production, including editing copy, writing headlines and incorporating rich media elements
  • Creating alternative storytelling approaches for daily and long-range content
  • Writing blog posts for
  • Working with programmers, data and video teams as needed
  • Other duties as needed



Internships are paid at competitive rates. The preferred duration is 12 weeks and start/stop dates, as well as required shifts, can be flexible. Candidates should be currently enrolled or recently
