Requires an employee who will aid in the day-today running of the Health Information Management Department. Must be able to respond and interact with physicians and hospital staff in a courteous and collaborative manner. The Coding Supervisor will perform a wide range of duties, including CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding/abstracting, assigning work to coders, working the failed claims log, conducting coding audits, monitoring DNFB, submitting of OSHPD data, and other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Certified Coding Specialist or Registered Health Information Technician required. Previous experience as a Coding Supervisor/Manager preferred
Licensure/Certification: None required.
Experience: Previous hospital medical records departmental experience required. Knowledge of patient confidentiality, ICD-9, CPT-4, HCPCS coding and abstracting knowledge required.
