Description

The Managing Director is a growth-minded individual with entrepreneurial experience who will lead Resource’s San Francisco office to be the preeminent marketing agency for leading brands.  This person has proven experience cultivating executive level marketing relationships, develops business development strategies, can manage multidisciplinary agency teams to deliver high quality solutions and adeptly connects agency services to a client’s desired business outcomes.  The Managing Director is a strong financial and operational manager who consistently achieves objectives across a portfolio of clients and actively focuses on the most important financial levers of the business while delivering with excellence.  This person understands and embraces the history, core values and culture of the agency and exhibits exemplary communication and leadership skills.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Client and Department Delivery
    • Applies agency thought leadership strategies and frameworks to plan and present to clients
    • Inspires teams and fosters creative environment to deliver with excellence
    • Achieve targeted client satisfaction goals using the Net Promoter Score methodology
    • Effectively manages the financial performance of each client to achieve overall financial goals of the portfolio
    • Ensures clear and informative project briefs are created to outline priorities and motivate teams to create great work
    • Creates case studies and seeks media/analyst coverage of client work to increase awareness and solidify reputation in the marketing space
    • Leads quarterly or semi-annual (differs by client) strategic business planning process to develop near and long term strategies
    • Presents agency capabilities and customized presentations to client executives
    • Effectively leverages partners to enhance agency services and position team as strategic leader
    • Actively manages Department offerings for the Client Team to best support client and agency business objectives
    • Uses effective negotiations strategies to achieve mutually desired outcomes between clients and agency
    • Creates and operationalizes appropriate engagement models (time and materials, fixed fee, retainer, other) commensurate with the nature of the project and client relationship
    • Always seeks opportunities to reapply previous strategies, frameworks, and/or project methodologies to achieved desired outcomes in efficient manner
    • Actively contributes to the Resource Senior Leadership Team
    • Accountable for overall financial performance of client and office including any individually assigned objectives
    • Adheres to the operational policies to effectively manage client workflow
    • Partners with Department leadership to understand offerings to effectively present to clients and to provide feedback for improvement and growth of offerings
    • Creates and manages professional development plan for all associates on assigned team
    • Participates in Resource:University as outlined in curriculum by role
    • Creates a culture of accountability where team members take ownership of their obligations and support their fellow associates

 

  • Business Development
    • Develops and executes growth strategy for existing clients to achieve assigned objectives
    • Partners with Business Development team to identify and manage a targeted list of new business prospects based on ideal client criteria
    • Creates a high-level vision and pursuit strategy for new business prospects and leads team accordingly
    • Achieves targeted close rate for pursued new business opportunities
    • Participates in industry and local events/associations to build awareness and reputation of agency and to network with industry stakeholders
    • Effectively  manages new business budget to align investment strategy with opportunity potential
  • Facility/space management
    • Manage relationship and communication with building manager
    • Manage personnel to provide reception and administrative support
    • Identify functional needs and requirements to support associate work, teaming and overall Resource cultural vibe
    • Oversee space upgrades, improvements, repairs

 

  • Office staff meetings, communication and associate events
    • Establish routine staff meeting and approach for cascading key company messages
    • Contribute to Resource’s intranet to ensure San Francisco happenings and successes are shared across the company
    • Work with HR to plan local associate events (and when San Francisco associates should participate in Columbus activities)
  • Local presence visibility
    • Join key groups and associations that raise our local profile
    • Identify key partners and meet regularly to identify opportunities
    • Identify and participate in local media opportunities

 

 

 

  • Required Qualifications
    • 10+ years of leadership roles in similar organizations
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or equivalent field
    • Previous experience working in agency or professional services environment
    • Previous career experience working with or for leading technology brand(s)
    • Previous experience in digital marketing
    • Exemplary communications skills – both written and verbal
    • Strong financial management and operational skills
    • Demonstrated history of business development achievement
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • MBA or other advanced degree appropriate for the role
    • Proven history of leadership in matrixed organizations
  • Travel Requirements
    • Travel as appropriate approximately 40%
