ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TECHNICIAN (Air Quality Management)

Description

JOB SUMMARY

Assist air quality team in the performance and preparation of quality impact assessments.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists technical staff in assessing and maintaining air quality by managing emisions and enforcing compliance of applicable laws.
  • Assists with the preparation of sampling media; sampler assembly and disassembly; sample receiving, delivery, tracking and chain of custody forms; sample archiving and record filing; and general laboratory duties.
  • Obtains air monitoring baseline, area, personal, and clearance samples. tracks/ monitors air pollution emitted by factories, facilities, and project sites.
  • Responsible for care and routine calibration and maintenance of air monitoring equipment and supplies. Supports the operation and maintenance of instrumentation as needed.
  • Provides data management support: Prepares project daily logs, writes field reports, reports results, and prepares project documentation.
  • May be required to conduct clerical work such as data entry to a database; record keeping; gathering literature and reports; and covering the reception desk.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least high school graduate or GED certificate
  • Preferred: Associate/Bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Chemistry / Environmental Science/Engineering / Chemistry
  • Two (2) years' experience in technical activities related to air quality management / air pollution, including field investigation and report writing
  • Experience in measuring and performing air quality tests, analyzing data, and troubleshooting problems
  • Ability to implement quality controls and write detailed reports about findings
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe) required
  • Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, including the ability to pass pulmonary function tests and wear respiratory protection
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must be a responsible self-starter. Able to take direction and learn quickly.
  • Ability to grasp technical and scientific information quickly, and to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to perform exceptionally under highly stressful conditions
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of CAD a plus
