Position Summary:

In this primary role on our engineering team, the Principal Engineer will work on the company’s flagship ad serving product. Working with key members of our highly motivated and skilled technical staff, the Principal Engineer will be develop enhancements to our ad serving technology that drive our leadership position in the market. We are looking for a Principal Engineer who will be a hands-on programmer who is both an expert in data analytics and combinatorial optimization. The primary tasks include building and designing predictive models for ad selection using techniques for large-scale data analysis and data mining, and pre- and post-campaign analyses to measure effectiveness of the proposed techniques. This position requires strong hands-on Unix/C server development skills and excellent analytical capabilities. The Principal Engineer reports to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

Design, development and testing of algorithms focused on data analysis, data mining and predictive modeling for ad serving.
Work closely with the chief technology officer and fellow developers on programming a high availability ad server platform, as well as the enhancement of existing data-mining, analytics and predictive modeling applications.

Requirements:

MS or PhD in CS from reputed a school. Other qualifications may be considered in lieu of these if the candidate has an outstanding track record with prior experience in ad serving.
8+ years of commercial software development in C, C++ or Java. Focus should have been on large data set analytics, data mining technologies, and optimization of combinatorial algorithms.
Familiarity working in a Solaris (or other Unix flavor) development environment.
Proven knowledge and experience with development tools for high availability and high performance Web and Internet software.
Ability to understand and work on all levels of details of the development, production deployment and end-user interactions of the ad serving platform.
Excellent understanding of multi threaded programming techniques, operating system fundamentals and compilers.
Prior online ad server development is a plus but not required.
Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment – prior experience in a startup is required.
