Manager, Gaming & Content - China

Immersion, the leader in haptic touch feedback, is seeking a video game marketing professional, who is a highly motivated, resourceful, creative, and enthusiastic leader to drive our mobile applications developer marketing and developer relations for China. You will work closely with our corporate and international teams.

Current and future smartphones and tablets are all about the user experience. Immersion's TouchSense® HD Haptics solutions makes the user experience more fun, engaging and immersive for gamers, social networking, location-based services and virtually any other mobile application. Our development platform provides tools to make it easier for application developers to incorporate haptics in their Android applications.

This position will develop, execute and control marketing strategies to grow our presence in the gaming ecosystem and deliver new and exciting content that raise the bar in user experience.  This individual will be hands on in engaging video game publishers directly as well as defining and executing programs to reach the global development community. The successful candidate will thrive in an organization whose values focus on creativity, innovation, integrity, amazing people and collaboration.  

Candidate will be expected to work primarily in the Chinese and Korean markets and will be based out Shanghai, with regular travel to our San Jose based headquarters. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Serve as strategic leader in developing Immersion's gaming and content initiatives focused on China
  • Develop and execute strategies and plans targeting gaming developers to drive adoption of our gaming offering and content/chat companies to adopt haptics for their apps
  • Actively evangelize the Immersion solution and effectively communicate Immersion's value add to the gaming and content ecosystems
  • Own and manage business development relationships with partners while serving as their consultant to better build/advertise their applications
  • Work closely with Marcom to define and execute external marketing communications including advertising and promotional strategy, community outreach and social media engagement, and other vehicles for engaging and educating these audiences
  • Responsible, in collaboration with the Product Management and engineering groups, to support the marketing and introduction of innovative and highly differentiated products and services
  • Understand the needs of our partners and effectively communicate those needs to our internal team
  • Manage/lead cross-functional teams including product development, product management, application engineering, etc. to drive and support new initiatives

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job:

 

  • BS/MBA and 2-5 years of related experience required
  • A passion for content/games is required.  Content/gaming background or mobile app background preferred
  • Experience in product marketing or product management role for digital/mobile applications or software solutions is highly desirable
  • In-depth working knowledge of content & media, gaming or the mobile applications ecosystem desired. This includes developers, handset manufacturers, mobile operators, and the app markets and storefronts
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English with ability to work in both languages is required
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and formal presentations
  • Demonstrated past success in independently chartering and running programs that leveraged multiple organizations to deliver impactful results
  • Proven track record for initiating, driving, and growing innovative marketing programs
  • Creative leadership, out of box thinking, and risk taking based on educated data driven decision making that yields solid results.
