Lead Cook

Pay range: $11.55 - $15.00 per hour DOE.

Description

The Lead Cook is responsible for producing and supervising the meal service for guests at Camp Campbell. The Lead Cook is also directly responsible for the production and accomplishment of their staff.  The position requires experienced professional cooking execution knowledge and an ability to prioritize work flow for the kitchen staff. 
 
Strong planning and time-management skills are required for the Lead Cook, who must be able to employ the tools provided by Camp Campbell to prepare food in the proper quantity up to the standards of performance set by the department. The Lead Cook must be an effective communicator, soliciting information from the staff and incorporating all knowledge and standards into the production of food. The Lead Cook must uphold the best practices and highest personal standards in order to foster leadership and authority as a managing employee.      
 
       Qualifications:
  • The Lead Cook position requires a commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility as well as a commitment to building developmental assets in adults and youth.  YMCA values diversity, youth, and a broad vision of health and wellness which is enhanced by relationship building.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus five (5) years management experience as a food services professional or a Culinary Arts Degree from an accredited school, a combination of both, or equivalent work experience.
  • ServSafe or comparable management-level food safety certification required within the first 6 months in the position. 
  • Available to work up to 32 hours weekly with varied shift times, as late as 8 pm and as early as 6 am over the course of a 7 day week. 
  • Ability to manage inventory, ordering, and scheduling of crew. 
  • Ability to act in a management capacity when needed. 
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. 
  • Dependable, service-oriented, creative and efficient.
