Position Description:

MMM is currently seeking a senior/intermediate bridge engineer  to join our Bridges department located at our Vancouver office. This position will report to the Manager of the Bridges department.  You will be playing a significant role in growing our engineering practice in condition surveys, visual and detailed inspections, non-destructive testing, asset management, and rehabilitation design for transportation structures, including bridges, culverts and retaining walls. We are currently serving a number of key municipalities and public agencies in the Metro Vancouver area for their annual inspections and on-going maintenance/rehabilitations. As part of our strategies, we would like to further strengthen our position in the market place and to be the trusted partner for our clients meeting their needs in bridge inspection, asset management and rehabilitation by employing latest technologies.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare proposals and be involved with business development;
  • Lead/perform condition surveys, visual and detailed structural inspections;
  • Prepare technical reports including inspection reports;
  • Provide conceptual/detailed design, drawings and specifications for bridge rehabilitation work;
  • Provide contract administration, field review and inspection for repair and rehab jobs;
  • Manage project staff resource, budget and schedule; and
  • Liaison with clients and sub-consultants.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 and 8 years of relevant engineering experience, respectively, for intermediate and senior positions;
  • A registered professional engineer with APEGBC;
  • Formal inspection training courses or certifications for OSIM/PWGSC BIM/AT BIM/AASHTO Inspection Manual;
  • Working knowledge of standard non-destructive and destructive testing techniques for concrete and steel structures including chain drag, half-cell survey, concrete coring with chloride and petrography analysis, magnetic particle imaging and ultrasonic testing;
  • Working experience in bridge inspections and rehabilitation design for various types of structures including concrete, steel and timber;
  • Basic knowledge in EH&S, Quality Management and Project Management;
  • Experience with bridge asset management systems will be considered an asset;
  • A vehicle in suitable working order and a valid driver’s license are required for the position;
