Position Description:

MMM is currently seeking a Senior Power Engineer to join our Buildings Division, located at our Vancouver office. Reporting to the department manager this position will be responsible for system design and implementations of industrial power system solutions.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Experience working with ETAP
  • Structured system design experience, with a structured approach to problem solving, project execution, and project management
  • Ability to apply the latest technologies and methodologies to the design stages at the onset of the project, by applying independent thinking and visionary design
  • Proficiency with customer interface, fiscal responsibility, and adherence to project schedule, budget and project manpower planning
  • Industrial power system design for low and medium voltage power distribution and switchgear
  • Power system analysis including short circuit, load flow, power factor and coordination studies
  • Grounding system design and calculations
  • General knowledge of National Electrical Code (CEC), NFPA70E and other related standards/codes
  • Understanding of the Arc Flash safety design, as associated with NFPA70E
  • Power systems software analysis skills (ETAP and/or SKM)
  • Large VFD/Soft-Start/etc. drive experience in specification and implementation
  • Protective relaying design and configuration, particularly involving motor, transformer and feeder protection
  • Complete electrical drawing package design coordination (AutoCAD Electrical, SmartPlant Electrical, etc.) including one lines, three lines, MCC layouts, etc.
  • Project scope definition and cost estimating
  • Preparation of equipment specifications
  • Development of construction packages
  • General knowledge of control system design and interfacing to power system equipment
  • Field testing of power systems, construction coordination, and project field commissioning
  • Generation of associated project documentation; studies, reports, analysis and specifications
  • Other aspects of electrical power distribution projects, as necessary

 

Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years of healthcare, commercial and industrial power distribution design experience is required
  • A Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required
  • A current P.Eng. Status.
  • Good oral and written communications skills in English
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and work within a technical team environment
  • Ability and willingness to execute projects according to client specifications
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with computer operating systems, networks and electronic information handling
  • Proficiency with a variety of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, Visio, Projects, and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail, a healthy work ethic, and the ambition to grow within our company
