Customer Care Coordinator

The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) has 3 openings for part-time Customer Care Coordinators to answer a multiple phone line system in a prompt, professional, and friendly manner while counseling callers on potentially emotional topics and clearly explaining MHS policies and procedures.  This position is based at our Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland, and dependable attendance is a must!  

The Customer Care Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: answering a multi-line phone system and providing general information to the public; counseling individuals regarding animal relinquishment, euthanasia, and adoption; scheduling appointments with an on-line computer based system; generating computerized reports; and performing other duties as requested by adoption center management.   

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  They must have experience counseling individuals in emotional situations; a minimum of 6 months in the customer service field; experience with computer-based appointment programs (or similar computer-based applications); and experience with multi-line phone systems.  The Customer Care Coordinator must also have strong communication skills with the public, supervisors, and coworkers; strong organizational skills; be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as be able to learn new programs quickly; and be able to attend meetings as required.
