Today, JBT Corporation’s AeroTech Division is a world leader in the supply of airport equipment and services focused on the future.  At our Orlando, Florida facility we manufacture airport ground support equipment, including aircraft deicers, aircraft tow tractors, cargo loaders and transporters.  

As a Designer II with JBT AeroTech, you will work closely with multiple engineering and design teams to create designs and drawings of complex mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, and hydraulic systems.  You will perform and lead difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and design expertise.  You will work closely with all engineering teams, support teams, and manufacturing teams to produce the best possible complete package design and conduct design reviews with cross functional teams to present concepts, accept feedback, and integrate feedback into the design process.   •  Lead the design of complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electromechanical systems including component selection, harness and hose routing, large welded structures, sheet metal parts, creation of assemblies, installation of assemblies and components, and BOM creation in accordance with engineering guidelines.
  • Prepare complex concepts, cost estimates, design reviews, and complete drawing packages from verbal or written instructions.
  • Assist with preparation of project estimates and completion schedules.  Monitors project status and report progress and obstacles to management as required to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Provide technical assistance when issues arise or when new products are released into production.
  • Analyze new and existing products to eliminate design issues in fabrication, assembly, and operation.
  • Exercise independent judgment interpreting data, design intent, design operation, and possible product improvements based on knowledge and experience.
  • Stay current with industry trends, recommending potential improvements or enhancements to JBT AeroTech operations. 
  • Provide support and guidance to other team members pertaining to drafting standards and Unigraphics operation
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • Associate of Science degree in design or equivalent industry training
  • 5+ years solid model drafting experience
  • 2+ years solid model design experience

Additional Training:  The following in-house training will be required:

  • Unigraphics, Teamcenter, and drafting standards
  • Operation of JBT equipment
  • Safety and shop practices
  • JBT work instructions
  • Various software packages
  • Other training as needed

Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Unigraphics NX7.5 solid modeling and drafting
  • Advanced knowledge of Team Center 8.3 application
  • Ability to exercise general searches and workflow processes within inside Teamcenter
  • Advanced knowledge of MRP systems and Bill of Material generation and manipulation
  • Excellent knowledge of standard PC based office software

Work Environment- While this position is primarily in an office setting, extensive exposure and work in the manufacturing facility will be required.  Visits to manufacturing and test areas will result in exposure to high noise levels, hot or cold ambient temperatures, congested work spaces and the exposure to potentially hazardous work environments normally associated with heavy duty manufacturing activities.

Physical Demands- Exposure to climbing ladders, working on machines, and working at heights other than ground level.  Ability to drive and operate JBT products required.

Supervisor Responsibilities- No direct reports.

Type of Supervision Position works under: (close, moderate, minimal)-  This position requires moderate supervision. The position is responsible for implimenting JBT AeroTech drafting guidelines, design reviews, drawing checks, and coaching other team members.  Project completions schedules are to be established, communicated, and adhered to.  This will require constant and accurate communication with management concerning the adjustment of work schedules, prioritization of jobs, and scheduling of overtime as required.

Relationship Responsibilities- Regular communication with internal customers, design teams, and management. Regular communication with vendors and outside service providers.  Regular communication with management concerning project status and schedules.

Travel Requirements – Minimal domestic and international travel may be required.
