These positions require females as the positions are responsible for accessing female change rooms and washrooms during their use.

The Banff Centre is a one-of-a kind arts institution located on the side of Tunnel Mountain, overlooking the beautiful Bow Valley and the picturesque Town of Banff.  It is also an organization that prides itself on providing exceptional customer service to the thousands of artists, faculty, participants, conference attendees, audience members, and general public who visit our campus throughout the year. Our Building Service Workers perform essential front line service and caretaking duties, ensuring a high quality environment for all of the public and office areas in all buildings on campus.

Building Service Workers (BSW) may be assigned care-taking or service duties in any building on campus. Examples of duties required include: sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, dusting, vacuuming, emptying garbage in all areas such as classrooms, halls, lobbies, lounges, locker rooms, offices, kitchens, and dining rooms. The BSW may be asked to perform occasional heavy lifting and may also be required to use various cleaning chemicals. Minimal previous experience is required; however, self-motivation, the ability to work independently, a positive attitude and a keen attention to detail are all qualities we are looking for.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a good understanding of general cleaning practices and how to apply them
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, as this position is in contact with clients and fellow staff members
  • Demonstrates sound prioritizing skills, as daily tasks will vary and fluctuate depending on the activities on campus
  • Requires minimal direction beyond initial training and assignment of daily responsibilities
  • Completes work to a high standard, paying keen attention to detail

Special Requirements

  • Candidates offered a position with the Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check through the local R.C.M.P. detachment, verifying a clear record before a final job offer can be made 
  • Candidates must be available to work rotating shifts, meaning days off per week may not necessarily be the same from one week to the next and may not be consecutive

Available Shifts

  • AM Shift: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm 

Employment Terms & Benefits

In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a permanent hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.

This position pays $14.00 per hour working up to 37.5 hours per week.
