We're in the process of building our "big bet" for the next several years, a next-generation platform that's even more scalable, reliable and speedy and will accommodate the next level of our explosive growth. We need experts to build and transition onto this new infrastructure. This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a company and infrastructure that's going to grow rapidly.

You are a sysadmin par excellence. You run high-scale systems for millions of users. You take action to resolve issues before they even exist. You have a passion for repeatable infrastructure, an allergy to unique snowflakes, a habit of improving the status quo, excellent technical skills and communication skills to match. To be successful in this role, you'll need to handle a rapid rate of change with spotless reliability, and enjoy planning and executing fast-moving projects involving production systems.

This position is located in our San Francisco office. You must be eligible to work in the US today.

What You'll Do

  • Build the next generation of our production infrastructure
  • Support our infrastructure and services to maximise uptime and minimise impact to customers
  • Develop modules for our configuration management system
  • Build, scale and optimize critical production systems
  • Manage your workload, balancing major improvements with 3rd-level production issues
  • Work closely with developers in other teams on ops projects
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance for critical systems
  • Coordinate with co-location and datacenter providers
  • Ensure the security of our critical systems

Preferred Skills

  • Experience testing and automating deployment of infrastructure( Puppet knowledge is a plus!)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (KVM and VMWare)
  • Experience running large-scale web applications on modern platforms (HAproxy, Nginx, Django, etc)
  • Experience running mission-critical Linux production servers
  • Ability to monitor and optimize production database servers (primarily PostgreSQL)
  • Ability to carry out monitoring and performance analysis using Zabbix
  • Proficiency in Python is a bonus
