At Altera, we take pride in creating an energetic and dynamic work environment that is driven by ingenuity and innovation. We believe the growth and success of our company is directly linked to the growth and satisfaction of our employees. That is why Altera is committed to a work environment that is flexible and collaborative, and allows our employees to reach their full potential. Altera Corporation is the pioneer of programmable logic solutions, enabling system and semiconductor companies to rapidly and cost effectively innovate, differentiate and win in their markets. Altera combines the programmable logic technology originally invented in 1983 with software tools, intellectual property, and customer support to provide high-value programmable solutions to over 13,000 customers worldwide. Altera is headquartered in San Jose, California, and employs approximately 3,000 people in 19 countries. As a Software Timing Model Intern, you will help to develop a model representation of FPGA hardware in Altera's flagship software package, Quartus II. Specifically, this job relates to creating models, simulation engines, and database infrastructures and test infrastructure that accurately predict the power dissipated, speed achieved, and signal integrity metrics for digital-logic systems implemented in Altera’s devices. You will be working at the cutting edge of semiconductor technology and will potentially create and validate models used by tens of thousands of Altera customers. Many software-design challenges await in this position, like guaranteeing correctness, minimizing run-time (also though parallelization of code), compressing data structures, efficient testing, etc. This is because of large amounts of hardware-modeling data, collected across many different operating conditions must be processed, validated, and applied correctly to guide many of the Computer-Aided Design algorithms within Quartus II, as well as within third party software tools. The successful candidate’s minimum qualifications will include the following:
