Maintenance Mechanic for Sanimax

Sanimax is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team!  We are a green company that serves the agri-food industry by reclaiming animal, food and other by-products that would otherwise end up in landfill.

The Maintenance Mechanic services, repairs, replaces, and performs preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.  These efforts help create and maintain a safe working environment for our employees, while ensuring production of cost-effective, high quality products.  As Sanimax is continuously updating and automating our processes, the successful candidate will also play a key role in implementing and maintaining these upgrades.

In this role, you will:

  • Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment failures to meet or exceed production, safety and efficiency standards.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment in order to anticipate and avert failures.
  • Assist with the implementation of engineering changes, installations of new equipment, and other improvements to the plant.
  • Communicate all accidents, downtime, and exceptions to the Lead Maintenance Mechanic, and assisting in the investigation and documentation of these incidents.
  • Share any cost-saving ideas and recommendations to improve maintenance operations.
  • Ensure that the maintenance area and equipment level is clean and Salmonella-free, in alignment with the company standards of a “tour-ready” facility.

The right person for this role is a values-driven, team-oriented individual with high work standards and a proven ability to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.  We are also looking for:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.  Coursework in Mechanical or Technology preferred.
  • 3-5 years of industrial mechanical experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial machines is ideal.
  • Millwright/Journeyman’s license desired.
  • Able to read, understand and work from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
  • Able to use diagnostic equipment, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
  • Able to weld with wire and stick systems, operate oxygen/acetylene and plasma cutting equipment, and operate a bobcat and forklift.
  • Able to understand and interact with fully automated control systems and comprehend the relationship to all operating components.
