In this Public Safety position, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safety and well being of all patrons, staff, and local residents at Panorama Mountain Village. You will promote a feeling of safety and sanctuary with your presence and professionalism. 

Through advanced training with the Panorama Safety Services Department, you will participate in a broad range of Emergency Events and Rescue Scenarios. You will be available for situations that need to be diffused by someone who has training and experience in conflict resolution. As you work closely with local Emergency Services and through affiliation with the Panorama Fire Department, you will be eligible to receive advanced training and certification in Firefighting, Medical Treatment, Technical Rescue, and Public Safety Education.

In this challenging Full Time position you will perform a wide variety of tasks to ensure a maximum level of protection, safety, and comfort to both the guests and homeowner’s utilizing the facilities at Panorama Resort, as well as Local Businesses, Residential Communities, Mountain Recreational Areas, and Panorama Staff and Management.

Essential Functions:

  • Carry out regular foot, vehicle, ATV patrols of the property

  • Physically check all locked doors, gates, and secure required areas

  • Frequently check residences, parking garages, storage areas, and public access areas to provide a deterrent to theft, vandalism, disturbances, or safety concerns

  • Inspect life safety equipment, alarms & security systems, and rectify deficiencies

  • Intervene in disturbances and potentially violent situations in community, bars, restaurants, private and public areas

  • Provide comprehensive first aid to guests and staff, including use of an AED, and spinal management equipment

  • Locate, treat, and transport injured or lost persons within a wilderness environment, including assisting local Ski & Mountain-Bike Patrol

  • Participate in local wildlife management programs, and perform active wildlife management within a remote mountain community

  • Liaise with, and assist local Emergency Services, including Police, Fire, Ambulance, Search & Rescue, Public Utilities, or other organizations

  • Conduct accident/incident/criminal investigations & generate comprehensive reports

  • Provide written reports to the Safety Services Manager, enforce company policy and regulations, anticipate potential problems and customer concerns

  • Assist resort guests, homeowners, businesses, and staff and management with general concerns as required

  • Respond to and solve customer problems & assist other departments as required

Experience/Requirements:

  • Law & Security or Police Foundations Diploma, Fire/Emergency Services Diploma, or minimum of one year of F/T experience in a related environment

  • All candidates must complete the BC BST level 1 program (40 hrs) and obtain a provincial Security License.

  • All candidates must pass a criminal record check, driver’s abstract review, medical fitness form, and an appropriate background check.

  • Minimum of St. Johns Ambulance Standard First Aid or BC Level I, with CPR C and AED endorsement.

  • WCB OFA3 or an Industrial First Aid Equivalent (70 hour or greater program) desirable.

  • Basic firefighting awareness desirable.

  • Excellent communication and people skills, Ability to work shift work

  • Demonstrate confidence, problem solving, and decisiveness

  • Possess a high degree of initiative and work well without supervision

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be in good physical condition - Extended periods of walking and working in all weather conditions

  • Must be capable of conducting physical interventions, and comfortable in potentially violent disputes

  • Must possess the ability to continually and repeatedly perform functions between inside to outside environments
