  • Support the Labor Management Initiative programs (LMI) by delivering communications that inform external stakeholders of project activities and outcomes
  • Update and maintain the LMP website and social media accounts
  • Plan, edit and write communication pieces for various stakeholder audiences (union, management, government, funders);  develop press kits and other promotional activities; adapt copy from other departmental sources, including teammates and directors and prepare for electronic/print use (annual reports, employer blast, trustee reports, visiting health care systems, promoting labor-management work to other audiences, etc.)
  • Track project work and develop and maintain mechanisms to keep internal stakeholders informed of project and  aligned with departmental and organizational goals and expectations
  • Represent the department at external events and conferences, including set up and break down of LMP tables; increase LMP brand awareness and recognition
  • Support communications-related needs of LMI/RNLMI large scale events; develop talking points, developing visual aids (brochures, PowerPoint presentations, handouts), coordinate/supervise related vendors, procure speakers, assist with layout, formatting and design of event related materials
  • Manage database of participant emails and telephone numbers for event communications
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Labor Relations, Healthcare or equivalent years of experience required; plus
  • Minimum three (3) years writing, editing and proofreading experience in a communications environment for broad and diverse audiences required
  • Experience with healthcare, unions, labor management initiatives a plus
  • Strong editing,  proofreading, grammar and research skills a must; skilled in writing for a variety of audiences,  adapting copy from other sources and prepare for online use, social media, electronic newsletters, digital environments, graphics and content design
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint required – able to create presentations, modify slides, creating charts and graphs; knowledge of Excel, Word preferred, experience with publishing software, layout and design, web interfaces a plus (Adobe Suite and Publisher)
  • Previous experience with blog posts, articles, press releases, digital material utilizing blogging, Face Book content, Linked in, Twitter, etc
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented with strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to manage multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines, comfortable working under pressure
  • Client-service oriented and enthusiastic team player with a positive can-do attitude; willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done
  • Able to actively build relationships and comfortable working in difference setting (office, field, conferences, etc.) with various stakeholders (vendors, sponsors, leadership, frontline workers, etc.)
  • Available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel to locations in the New York City and nationally as needed
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
