Assistant Finance Controller
|Employee Category:||Full Time|
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home.
BACKGROUND: IRC has been in West Africa for over fifteen years and has been implementing programs in Liberia since 1996 and Sierra Leone since 1999.The programs broadly encompassed community reintegration, education, gender-based violence, and health. After the civil wars that lasted more than a decade, the IRC has focussed on post conflict development and reintegration services for Sierra Leoneans and Liberians returning home from neighbouring countries. As the countries transition from relief and rehabilitation to development, IRC has made a commitment to post conflict development programs through building partnership with national and International NGOs and governments.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Assistant Finance Controller assists the Country Office Finance Controller by managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting unit. At the discretion of the Country Director the Assistant Controller will assume some or all of the Controller responsibilities when the FC is absent.
