The Automation Support Centre (“ASC”), Calgary, is recruiting for a Project Engineering (Technical Lead) - Spartech. Reporting to the Manager, Automation Support Centre, the successful candidate will be the design lead on multiple project teams, providing technical project leadership, support, knowledge and experience relating to custom analytical and automation control systems packaging and instrumentation solutions to our customers, and support our product lines and services. Site travel may be required.
Role and Responsibilities

An integral component of the project team working with a project manager

Working with customers’ engineers to define functional requirements
-
Responsible for technical aspects of the project; project scope ranges from simple or complex electrical/pneumatic process control systems/cabinets to skid-mounted process/control buildings

Managing functionality and customer expectations
-
Managing the delivery of engineering design, programming/configuration, integration, procurement, manufacturing, commissioning, startup services
-
Interfacing with trade subcontractors and sub-suppliers

Ensuring compliance with all applicable customer engineering and safety standards, practices, procedures, plant documentation requirements and methods of installation

Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
-
Managing project records
-
Planning and managing internal and external resources - e.g. CAD

Understanding project management processes

Travel to customer sites may be required
Qualifications and Skills
-
Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, Systems or Electrical)
-
10 years project engineering experience an asset
-
Professional engineer designation (P. Eng.) and able to stamp drawings and documentation
-
Proficient with PC/MS-Office/Internet and able to learn internal corporate business system (Atlas/Visual Manufacturing)

Knowledge of industry regulations, standards and practices

Broad understanding of instrumentation and control technology with common engineering tools and work processes

Experience with analytical, SCADA, DCS and PLC systems and system integration is an asset

Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced team environment and work to timelines
