Description

Summary

Leads and guides the design, development, and delivery of assigned products/modules. Leads the analysis and design efforts for complex system design, systems analysis, and programming activities.  Supervises complex bug verification and coordinates release testing for assigned products/modules.  Provides training/instruction and mentoring to team members.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Leads and guides the design, development, and delivery of assigned products/modules.
  2. Uses systematic approach to track development activity interdependencies and schedules; plans and schedules current activities; adapts as plans are changed due to changes in priorities and requirements.
  3. Leads the analysis and design efforts for complex system design, systems analysis and programming activities.
  4. Leads design/redesign and implementation of multiple systems/sub-systems.
  5. Leads and manages assigned development team members.
  6. Follow standardized software development lifecycle from Idea to Deployment to Sustaining.
  7. Leads and prepares technical documentation of systems/sub-systems; leads the development of required testing requirements.
  8. Leads efforts for complex bug verification and release testing for newly implemented/altered systems.
  9. Identify improvements needed in performance or functionality of familiar systems.
  10. Interfaces effectively with both internal and external customers; delegates responsibilities to others; keeps the development team informed of independently made decisions.
  11. Provides technical leadership to the development team by researching new technology or development tools; is current on activities within the department, company and industry.
  12. Has greater interaction with clients; actively participates in presentations, technical demonstrations, etc. 
  13. Provides training/instruction and technical mentoring to the development team as required.
  14. Selects appropriate development tools and defines coding standards to meet department needs.
  15. Independently performs technical or functional research.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science; Minimum 8 years of technical experience in software development environment
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and performance tuning
  • Strong project planning and implementation skills
  • Proven technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation
  • Strong understanding of database design; transactional and data warehouse systems
  • Excellent research, analytical, and design skills at multi-system/sub-system level
  • Strong understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance
  • Strong awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team leader, team member or individual contributor; exhibit initiative and be self-motivated
