The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Accounting & Finance team. The Business Intelligence (“BI”) Analyst will be responsible for managing data loading, gathering business requirements, assessing reporting requests, writing detailed functional specifications, and developing the application.
Responsibilities:

Work effectively inside Mesirow Financial as a team member of Business Intelligence. Form effective relationships with a broad cross-section of firm personnel in order to effectively accomplish the position's tasks. These relationships include, but are not limited to: investment management, insurance brokerage, broker/dealer and consulting services.

Assist with enhancements of data capture, data integrity, reporting capabilities & functionality of reporting tools through the development and maintenance of reports for key business areas which track key performance metrics.

Gathering business requirements from stakeholder relationships and translate those requirements into functional requirements for implementation.

Successful candidate will be driven by use of analytic techniques to support business objectives and will be curious about data, pro-active about problem solving, and self-motivated with a business/financial "big picture" outlook; knowledge of how operational and marketing decisions impact the bottom line.

Ensure all data loads occur and are validated within specifications.

Requirements:

Minimum of 3-5 years business intelligence reporting experience, of which 1-2 years’ experience will be gained working within a financial planning and analysis group.

Financial Services industry experience strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of the following disciplines required: Business, Computer Science or Statistics.

A business person who thinks about issues from a business perspective; bringing technical and financial acumen to the role using this to complement his/her functional depth.

Experience with Qlikview or similar BI application preferred.

Familiarity with the PDLC and how to effectively work thru project planning; requirements gathering / definition; data analysis; design and implementation with an emphasis on documentation.

Minimum 2-4 years’ experience using relational databases, such as: Sybase, Oracle, and MS SQL Server. Should be proficient in SQL and ETL techniques.

Minimum 2 years’ experience with reporting / OLAP tools.

Hands-on analytical skills and a working and theoretical knowledge of statistics.

Possesses a strong action and results orientation with the ability to work independently, be self-motivated and proactive in achieving individual and team objectives.

Superior verbal and written communication, presentation and consulting skills and the ability to articulate views crisply and convincingly to all levels of the organization.

Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in an evolving and ever changing environment without the structure and rules associated with larger, more established enterprises.
