Position Overview:
Provide direct supervision for unionised staff in the conduct of NDT taskings. Reporting directly to the Director, Quality Assurance the Supervisor will be responsible for the day to day operation of the NDT Department including compliance with company policies and procedures as they relate to the NDT Department operation.
Key Areas of Responsibility:

Supervise all NDT task inspections at all certification levels.

Provide technical guidance for NDT personnel at all levels of certification.

Establish, review for editorial and technical correctness, and validate, NDT instructions and procedures.

Interpreting standards, specifications, codes and procedures directly related to Non-Destructive Testing.

Ensuring the adequate documenting and reporting of NDT inspection results.

Designate the particular test methods, procedures and NDT inspection techniques to be utilized.

Liaise with external customers and IMP inter-departmental staff on all NDT related issues.

The initiation and assignment of NDT inspection projects.

Securing the level of knowledge in applicable materials technology so as to assist in establishing tests and acceptance criteria.

Providing recommendations for the purchase of new equipment and materials.

Exercising responsibility for the instruction and supervision of NDT personnel in the safe use, handling and disposal of controlled products (WHMIS) and implementation of all pertinent regulations concerning safe operation of test equipment.

Maintaining currency with the latest NDT technologies and equipment.

Provide assistance to the IMP Radiation Safety Officer for the Aerospace Radiation Safety program and maintaining Standard Plant Procedures to current Provincial and Federal Regulatory requirements.

Provide assistance to Engineering Staff on all Non-Destructive Testing matters.

Special assignments as designated by the Director, Quality Assurance.

Overseeing the operation and quality requirements of the Transport Canada Approved NDT Maintenance Organization.
Position Requirements:

The candidate shall meet or exceed the educational level requirements as indicated in The National Standard of Canada CAN/CGSB-48.9712.

Hold valid Canadian General Standards Board Level II certifications in a minimum of five (5) NDT inspection methods and a minimum Level II certification in the Radiography Aircraft Structures Category.

Valid certification as a Canadian Radiation Safety Officer would be an asset.

Valid certification as an X-Radiation Safety Officer would be an asset.

To be certified in the NDT methods noted, the individual must have met the specific physical, training and experience requirements as specified under the Canadian Regulatory Specification for each NDT method noted.

Expertise in the research and development of Nondestructive Testing Techniques would be an asset.

Able to provide effective leadership and work well with all levels of workers and management; clear and concise writing ability and ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Minimum supervision from the Director of Quality Assurance.

Required to supervise a department ranging from four to six persons.

Job is carried out in a shared office and in a plant/shop environment where the use of various PPE is required.

Will be required to work in confined spaces or in AC Fuel Tanks.

Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.

Shift work or travel outside of the HIA facility may be required in support of IMP taskings.
