Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Design, the Mechanical Designer is to prepares engineering designs, drawings and related technical information working independently or in multidisciplinary engineering teams
Duties
• Create assembly and installation drawings
• Detail drafting
• Liaise with Production departments
• Check other designers designs and miscellaneous tasks
DEVELOPMENT
Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings using Catia V5 + AutoCad R14
Interface with Stress Dept to review designs
Develop and prepare design sketches
Research new products; composite panels, attaching hardware, adhesives, etc.
Create ground or flight test procedures that might be required from an installation
Research basic aircraft data; dimension, type certificate, structure, floor plan, etc.
Propose new ideas and improvements (design and processes)
Ensure to design in accordance with customer sales package
Familiarity with budget and schedule.
Produce on time quality drawings.
Complete design under budget.
Become familiar with Aviation Regulations.
Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
Follow up on drawing issued to the shop; respond to any request for engineering and
advise any drawing to incorporate any changes to basic design
Create IDLS ( INDENTED DRAWING LISTS) and chair design reviews with production
CLERICAL DUTIES
• Write technical reports
• Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
• Offer technical assistance to Sales/Contract to enable realistic proposals
REQUIREMENTS
Mechanical Design - College degree or equivalent
Experience in aviation
3 years experience
Any aircraft interior experience
Experience with AutoCAD, Catia |
