Imerys has an emphasis on innovation. The generation of new products coming from the PFM labs is significant. Success in the introduction of new products is very material to the ability to achieve the company’s 5 year plan goals. Some of these new products have the potential to become a new business line within the PFM business group.
This person will be responsible for project managing all aspects of the new product and new business projects in polymers and rubber end use applications leading efforts to assemble and manage the product and business development teams responsible for :
- scoping out and developing new products,
- preparing and implementing the business plans
- identifying and establishing the appropriate external partnerships (industry experts, customers, toll processors, channel partners…)
- coordinating industrialization activities
- getting our products formulated or specified and approved
New products sales as a % of total sales (target>30%)
Global technical interactions and responsibilities
Key contact for external testing facilities
Technical applications lead for new product development and launch (deliverables and timelines per stage gate process)
Focus on mineral filled polyolefin applications
Specify percentage of domestic travel required. About 25%
Specify percentage of international travel required. 10%
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Significantly driving the expansion of our business into new polymer markets and new polymer applications.
-Identify key growth opportunities and advance the relationships between Imerys and potential customers in order to develop opportunities for growth, profitability and strategic positioning.
-Identify, influence and coordinate internal resources (technical, sales, operations, general management…) required to meet growth objectives and achieve the New Product Development (NPD) launch successes.
-Translate the Research & Applications NPD developments into commercial realities.
-Push and pull projects through the existing NPD project management process.
-Identify and pursue opportunities to expand Imerys’ presence in the value chain through new product/services
Education and Experience requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related field. MBA is desirable.
Minimum 5 yrs lab experience as a polymer formulator and tech or tech marketing supervisor (1 + persons). Preferred experience with thermoplastics and fillers. Specialized experience with formulation and processing of polyolefins (especially polypropylene) preferred.
-Experience with product innovation, commercialization, marketing and technical sales in an industrial entrepreneurial environment. Proven ability and focus on product launches and successful commercialization of new products, services, etc.
-Proven ability to manage projects and perform within project timeline constraints.
-Strong internal and external project management skills.

-Ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels of the organization.
-Demonstrated strategic selling and technical skills.
-Ability to influence and close deals at all levels of the value chain.

-Proficient in Microsoft Office computer skills.
-Fluent in English. Fluency in other languages highly desired.
