In this role you will design, deploy and maintain new services and infrastructure internally and externally to meet constantly evolving needs. You don’t need to live on the edge when you’re helping build the edge with technologies that are still being written.

Primary responsibilities

  1. Installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, operating systems and application software
  2. Support internal and external production services that handle traffic from millions of end-users daily across our international network
  3. Additional Responsibilities
  4. Collaborate with developers and administrators and assist with management of production projects
  5. Understand, document and troubleshoot complex systems of servers and software
  6. Rack, stack and cable new systems (occasionally)
  7. Shell scripting for task automation
  8. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation


  1. 4 years of UNIX system administration experience with at least 2 years in 24x7 high availability data center environment
  2. Proven administration experience in Ubuntu Linux or other UNIX flavors
  3. Understanding of the issues facing high-availability, high-demand Internet sites
  4. Strong shell scripting skills in languages such as Korn Shell, Bourne Shell and Perl
  5. Must have good written and verbal skills and be able to work in a team environment
  6. Self-motivation to manage priorities with attention to detail
  7. Willingness and experience working nights, mornings and weekends (as needed) and on a rotating on-call basis to ensure network reliability and customer support
  8. Must be able to lift 25 lbs
