The User Experience Director at POSSIBLE leads the User Experience Studio, working closely with Resource Managers and the Director of Creative Services to determine the right User Experience talent for each project.  You will help build the User Experience practice, and ensure members of the User Experience Studio effectively develop their skills. 

You will lead strategic digital marketing projects related to brand planning, digital campaign development, content strategy, and front-end design. You will draw upon your expertise in user-centered design in crafting the solutions that bridge core business requirements with the opportunities and advantages of the internet channel. You will play a leadership role working closely with Interaction Design, Research, Strategy, Technology, Search Marketing, and Creative.

  • Rapid prototyping, comfortable with various methodologies from free-hand sketching to white-board facilitation to pixel-perfect wire framing
  • Recognizing aesthetic and visual design, knowing the difference between “good” and “great” work
  • Empathizing, with a natural calling to satisfy user needs and motivations and advocate the user on projects
  • Working collaboratively, providing thought leadership and exchanging ideas among multi-disciplinary teams to bring out the best solutions

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on expertise and leadership in the development of information architecture deliverables including site maps, user flows, UI sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and features and functions specifications
  • Provide thought leadership in the heuristic evaluations and competitive audits on existing sites/ properties for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and branding
  • Partner with Consumer Research to prepare and conduct usability testing sessions as well as in-context behavioral research; Analyze, synthesize and organize research data into meaningful themes, categories, and visually compelling user models and recommendations including personas, scenarios, and storyboards
  • Facilitate and drive consensus in participatory requirements generation sessions such as features and functions brainstorms, rapid prototyping, and emotion brainstorms
  • Seek innovative and intuitive approaches to interaction design
  • Provide UX thought leadership within the agency and across the industry
  • Participate in leadership activities as a functional manager on key accounts, projects and new business efforts
  • Oversee project schedules, scope and estimate development.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of a team of Experience Planners including staffing, mentoring, training and career development
  • Enhance the POSSIBLE brand by driving award submissions and speaking engagements in the area of expertise

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in design-related discipline such as Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Architecture, Library and Information Science, Journalism or equivalent
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in an interactive agency or internet consultancy as User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Information Architect, or similar role
  • A strong portfolio with demonstrated examples of designing excellent user-centered experiences and applications
  • Expertise leading a broad spectrum of user-centered design activities including, requirements gathering and analysis, user research and persona development, heuristic reviews and competitive audits, usability testing and use case development, functional modeling and task flow creation, information architecture, sitemap and wireframe development, taxonomies and metadata frameworks, multi-channel experience framework and strategy development, etc
  • Knowledge of brand development, online advertising, search marketing, and social media and influence marketing, with proven abilities in measurement and analytics
  • Track record of strong leadership, negotiation, influence, and collaboration across teams
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal,) organizational, and client interaction skills
  • Experience staffing, managing and growing a team
