Atlantic Media Strategies is a newly launched, fast-growing client-services business within Atlantic Media. A small, scrappy team with a start-up mentality, we are dedicated to building new-to-market, creative solutions for clients that carry the same distinguishing characteristics of Atlantic Media’s editorial brands. We help clients create their own media brands and content-driven marketing projects to reach and convene global opinion leaders around exciting, industry-leading ideas.

Atlantic Media Strategies seeks a Web Designer who will generate original design concepts and provide design solutions for new products, existing site features, and online marketing initiatives, including ads, emails and newsletters. The designer will work closely with product managers and web developers to define the online visual strategy for our clients.  The ideal candidate will be a passionate, personable, user-centric designer who can think like a programmer, communicate like a writer, and adapt like an innovator.

This job can be based in Washington, DC or New York, NY.

Responsibilities Include:

  •       Translating business requirements and concepts into wireframes, workflows, prototypes and visual designs
  •       Defining the UX strategy in conjunction with the product and technical  team
  •       Ensuring engaging experiences for users and advertisers across a variety of platforms, browsers, and social touch points
  •       Ensuring the feasibility and scalability of all designs (i.e. web-friendly fonts, photo sizing/optimization, etc.)
  •       Designing quality, custom creative products for advertising sections
  •       Accurately estimating work schedules and ensuring deadlines are met
  •       Serving as a source for creative inspiration and ideas for our growing team
  •       Occasional design support for  sales and marketing collateral including client presentation materials

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage concurrent projects
  • Capable of articulating and presenting creative ideas to teams and clients
  • Passion for user-centric design and a solid understanding of the principles of website architecture
  • Experience working on the design of templates that integrate with a CMS
  • Ability to create designs for mobile apps (native and web) and mobile web site front-ends
  • Solid understanding of web standards, web browser capabilities, best practices around user experience, and common web technologies (HTML, dHTML, Javascript UIs and CSS)
  • Experience developing online marketing assets including newsletters, email campaigns, microsites and ad units
