Adelphi University School of Social Work seeks qualified applicants for the position of Undergraduate (BSW) Program Director, a 12-month administrative appointment.
Reporting to the Dean, the Director is responsible for the administration of the B.S.W. degree at the Garden City Campus and at Extension Centers in Manhattan and Hauppauge. This leadership position ensures the continued vitality, growth and innovation of this nationally recognized program and promotes its integration within the School of Social Work, the University, and the broader education and human service communities. The Director is responsible for recruitment of prospective students in Garden City, and oversees recruitment activity in Manhattan and Hauppauge. In collaboration with the undergraduate committee, the Director oversees admission into the program and the design and implementation of the curriculum and academic program. The Director has a primary role in assuring that students remain in good academic standing, meet the School’s standards for professional conduct, and proceed toward graduation.
The Director will have an MSW (doctorate in social work or related field preferred), and relevant teaching and administrative experience in a social work education or related higher education program. The successful candidate will be strongly identified with the purposes and values of the social work profession and able to convey the significance of a social work as a career choice in a compelling and persuasive manner. The Director will possess strong administrative, supervisory, organizational, written and verbal communication skills as well as computer competencies, e.g. Word, Excel, E-Mail. In addition, the Director will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective inter and intra organizational relationships, prioritize projects and competing demands, and work independently, exercising good judgment and reasoning in the performance of evolving job duties, while being an effective team member.
